WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF SCOOTERS…

We were recently introduced to the wonderful & fun world of scooting!!

Scooters are something we’ve never really considered so when the lovely people over at Micro Scooters wanted to send us some to celebrate becoming finalist in the family fun category for the MAD blog awards….we accepted with excitement!

Tailored to suit individual needs the scooters were ideal for the different age catergories in the house…everyone big and small had something just right for them…from a stunt scooter for the teenager right down to a dinosaurtastic scootersaraus set for Noah, 3. These scooters were certainly a far cry from the scooters that our elder children had played on 10 years ago, we were surprisingly impressed at how scooters have evolved!

After ordering our scooters they arrived with us with 24 hours!! It was like Christmas…

Everyone was over the moon and eager to try them out…

So with all the scooters easily put together with zero stress we took a vote and decided to head out and trial our scooters with a trip to the skate park!
Here’s how we got on on our very first adventure with our Micro Scooters

With our scooter bags packed with duck food and pennies we found a great stretch along the seaside to test our scooters..

 the girls accessoried…

our first test was a speed test….Noah was the starter….

 and finisher….😊

but it wasn’t long before they raced off to do their own thing…

Elis, a usual skater boarder, took some time to familiarise himself with his new stunt scooter before we headed to the skate park..

And obviously with his new scooter in tow, Noah 3, wanted to follow his big brother…

so we watched for a while from afar…

before heading down for a closer look..

He watched his brother whizzing past with the bigger boys so we decided to walk around the adjoining lake to feed the ducks in the hope that the skate park would be a little quieter later on…

So back on the scooters, we headed off…

Noah was sure the swans had come to check out his fantastic dinosaur helmet 😊
With a bit more practice under our belts…including a little practice in dusting ourselves off…

we headed back to the skatepark…

It was a lot quieter…we watched for a while…

 AND THEN IN WE WENT!!

big brother and little brother scooted alongside each other…

until their knees could take no more…

and their hearts were content with a day full of scooting memories to take home…

We would like to thank Micro Scooters for sending us our new scooters, we can’t rave about them enough! They are fantastic and a superb addition to the family, our schools runs just got a whole load easier and fun…

You have the one 110% approval from us for a family fun product!

The scooters we were sent were *Micro MX BenJ stunt scooter

*Micro Trixx scooter

*Maxi Micro scooter

*Mini Micro Scooter

DUVET DAY AT THE BEACH

20140527-194039.jpg

So with the lurgy being in the house for the past few days we decided to take our sickbed to the beach! After all fresh air is the best medicine of all…

It worked a treat.

We took two storage boxes, a piece of wood, some bedding and an air bed….

With a spot of reading, some snoozing in the sea air & lashings of chicken soup everyone felt well rested and a lot better so we finished the day with a pillow fight.

20140527-194139.jpg

20140527-194149.jpgIt’s surprising what a bit of bed rest can do…before long we were feeling fighting fit again…

20140527-194249.jpg
We did some rock pooling and found some false teeth!

20140527-194338.jpg

20140527-194403.jpg

20140527-194356.jpgAnd what slumber party would not be complete without a pillow fight?
So that’s what we did…

20140527-194532.jpg

20140527-194544.jpg

20140527-194553.jpgIt was a fab day and we left with plenty of sand between our toes and in the bed 🙂

MAKING LAVA LAMPS

We wanted to make a lava so collected together the things we would need…

A plastic bottle
Cooking oil
Alkazeltzers
Food colouring

20140525-095033.jpg
Add vegetable oil to fill 2 thirds of your bottle.

20140525-095139.jpg
add water and leave about an inch at the top of the bottle.

20140525-095217.jpg
Add a few drops of food colouring, wait for the colouring to break through the oil to the water
.

20140525-095435.jpg
add about a quarter of an alka seltzer tablet to the bottle and watch… (make sure you leave the lid off as pressure will build up) add more tablets as and when desired or just pop the lid on and swish back and forth for a cool effect.

‘FROZEN’ GLACIER EDIBLE MINT ICE CASTLE

20140425-112235.jpg

This yummy activity requires a substantial amount of imagination, lol, we had a vision of an amazing castle of ice shards…. Instead this is how it turned out. We may have bitten off more than we could chew but the girls loved making it and the fun was not only in the trying but also in the devouring afterwards 🙂

I think next time we’ll stick to building Olaf 😉

Here’s how our FROZEN Elsa’ castle turned out…

20140425-112337.jpg

I placed the glacier mints on a tray and put them in the oven at 190c for a few minutes, I watched during this time to make sure they didn’t burn.

20140425-112424.jpg

Once out of the oven I left to cool for a few minutes to harden and then smudged some blue food colouring on the top, I returned to the oven for a few minutes for the colouring to absorb into the mint.

20140425-112452.jpg

Once cooled the kids broke the mints into shards along with the chocolate.

20140425-112523.jpg

We used a glass for our mountain to place our ice castle on.

20140425-112553.jpg

I melted some chocolate in a pan over hot water and cover our glass to form the rock of our mountain.

20140425-112619.jpg

We made our staircase by gently heating one side of our glacier mints over a flame and once a little soften pressing them onto a lollipop stick.

20140425-112645.jpg

We used icing to glue our glacier ice shards and chocolate to the top of our glass, we put a marshmallow in the middle to hold it together.

20140425-112717.jpg
The girls were really pleased with the results…

GARDEN FAIRY POST BOX

20140425-111126.jpg

Imagine finding you have a magical garden fairy mail post box in your garden! All little people will love checking out this secret box each day & finding their very own personal letter from the fairies!

I made this enchanting post box by simply covering a matchbox with coloured paper & celloptape to make it reasonably waterproof, it’s an ideal way to send letters to children directly from the appreciation fairies to congratulate good behaviour, sharing abilities or bravery…. Or just for love ❤️

You could combine it with an adventure into the woods and discover it there, ours was made as a gift for two special little girls…

CAKE DECORATION COMPETITION

20140416-101642.jpg

We bought value sponge cakes for 58p each, some sweeties, a block of butter and some icing sugar…we already had food colouring in the cupboard. We made cake stands using a food tin topped with a circle of cardboard covered with a doily, we mixed butter with icing sugar to make the cake covering and icing sugar with water and colouring to make the coloured icing. The kids then decorated their cakes and the winner was announced. A very cheap and yummy activity.

Here’s how we got on..

TIPI BUILDING

20140413-175537.jpg

We found a length of material at a car boot sale and decided to head out to try our hand at tipi building…

We took some string and found an open spot to build, we gathered some long strong branches and began putting it together…

Here’s how we got on..

SPRINGTIME EASTER BATH

20140409-184409.jpg
We decided to create a springtime themed Easter bath time… So we got to work cutting and colouring and collecting things from around the house to turn the bathroom into a haven of yumminess and relaxation…

Here’s what we did…

OUR PREP..

We cut out Easter eggs and coloured them in with permanent marker pens..

20140409-184930.jpg
We cut out flower shapes to make our bath confetti, again we coloured them in with permanent marker pen so the colour wouldn’t run once in the bath..

20140409-185047.jpg
We made a sign for the door..

20140409-185122.jpg
We bought some yummies..

20140409-185209.jpg
We then gathered up plastic plant pots, fake flowers and some plastic eggs we got from Poundland..

THEN WE WERE READY TO PUT IT ALL TOGETHER..
Here’s how it looked..
