OCEAN VIEW OUTDOOR SPA

After returning from a week at a festival we decided we needed a little restoration & recovery time, so we collected up some things to make our own treatment couch & beach spa & headed for the ocean to cleanse & lift our souls…

We used two strong plastic storage boxes to carry what we needed and once at the beach we lay these side by side and covered them with towels to make our spa couch, we set up next to a sea water rock pool that would act as one of our treatments.
With a quick stop off at Tesco for supplies we headed on down to Rest Bay with a cool box of yummies & ice….

Here’s how we got on.

First we made a treatment sign..

THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS PICNIC

20140516-072444.jpg

We decided we wanted to have fish and chips for tea with a difference so with our thinking caps firmly on it was voted that we would create a ‘through the looking glass’ picnic in the woods. We got together what we needed and picked up chips on the way there…
It was beautiful and although we had no Mad Hatter or a mouse for out teapot the picnic turned out just right…
Here’s how we got on…

DUCK RACING

20140413-182850.jpg

We decided we were going to do our own duck race! We bought a big box of 50 rubber ducks in ‘Home Bargains’ and set about numbering them up and decorating them. We made a ‘duck race’ sign and a finish line using an old sheet. We then headed out to the stream not forgetting our nets to catch our racing ducks at the end…

Here’s how we got on..

20140413-182215.jpg
And we counted them up yo make sure we hadn’t lost any..

20140413-182313.jpg
Some of us got some serious booties retrieving them 🙂

For the £5 it cost for our ducks we had a fab afternoon, we finished we a picnic on the river bank.

CARROT HUNT & RUSTIC PICNIC

20140408-191337.jpg
I decided that I wanted to do a woodland hunt with a difference for the children, I wanted it to include a yummy picnic too.
So with a little imagination, a whole load of carrots, some cake and treats and a flask of soup we headed out for a carrot themed hunt in the woods…

Here’s how we got on…

FIRSTLY I GATHERED EVERYTHING THAT WAS NEEDED…

I bought a carrot cake for £2 in Waitrose & decorated with a packet of bunnies from Poundland, we finished by adding carrots and laying it on a cake stand….

20140408-192230.jpg

20140408-192244.jpg
I made a sign (see above) & placed different coloured elastic bands around our carrots so the kids could hunt for their allocated colours, they also had a ‘golden’ carrot each to find..

20140408-192457.jpg

20140408-192515.jpg
I filled some plastic plant pots with loot to be rewarded to the finders of the golden carrots..

20140408-192627.jpg

20140408-192642.jpg
Lastly I gathered a picnic blanket, a flask of soup and bread and loaded up our baskets to take to the woods..

20140408-192755.jpg

20140408-192811.jpg

WITH EVERYTHING PREPARED WE WERE READY TO SET OUT!!!

The best way to carry everything was in a wheelbarrow..

20140408-192946.jpg

Whilst the kids headed off to explore the woodland I set up…
Firstly I placed the sign..

20140408-193056.jpg
And laid the picnic..

20140408-193156.jpg

20140408-193210.jpg

20140408-193221.jpg
I then set about hiding the carrots..

20140408-193303.jpg

20140408-193336.jpg

20140408-193345.jpg
Then the kids set about on their hunt..

20140408-193511.jpg

20140408-193522.jpg

20140408-193531.jpg
And they were fruitful!!

20140408-193843.jpg
And when they had counted up their loot they were able to head off and search for their reward pots for finding the golden carrots…

20140408-193946.jpg

20140408-194017.jpg
All that was left to do was dig into our rustic picnic… YUMMY!!

20140408-194118.jpg

20140408-194132.jpg

20140408-194147.jpg

We had a fab time with a bucket load of carrots and a simple picnic…
