PICTURE FRAME FUN

Taking an old empty photo frame out is one of our favourite things to do…
It’s a really simple and effective way to capture the world around you & gives the kids a different way to look at the world..

Here’s some of the fun we had recently with our frame in tow..IMG_5303.JPG

OUTDOOR ALPHABET HUNT

We decided to go on an alphabet hunt & create our own ABC photo log.
We made some letters on a note book and used an iPhone to take our photos and add our text with a simple app.
Here’s some of the letters we found…

LOOK CLOSELY, WHAT’S THAT?

A fun game to play with the kids, set them the challenge of identifying close up photos you have taken of things around the house, alternatively give them a camera or a phone with a camera and set them the task of taking their own photos for you to identify….
Here’s some that we’ve taken, see how many you can get!

BLUEBELLS & BOARS IN THE FOREST OF DEAN

20140506-194622.jpg

Today we headed to the Forest of Dean with the intention of riding our bikes, we loaded up the car and picked up a picnic on the way, on the outskirts of Whitecroft just outside Lydney, heading towards The Forest of Dean on the road from Tescos to Clearwell we were greeted by carpets of blue blazing out from the trees, the bluebells were highly evident from the road, we stopped in a layby and entered the woods, it was beautiful… As we walked through a family of wild boar (7babies) ambled past us, it was a fantastic and unexpected treat….

I don’t think the photos need words, the beauty explains itself…
I probably took way too many photos…

Here’s how our walk in the woods looked….

I love flowers, the colour, intricacy, aroma & pure beauty… I set out to take some pictures of flowers to show them in contrast alongside each other with colour & without. I took the photos & simply switched each photo to black & white.

SUNDAY MORNING SUNRISE ON TOR Y FOEL

20140323-070926.jpg

Making the effort to venture out to watch the sunrise can be beautifully rewarding, our favourite place to watch the sunrise is from Tor Y Foel mountain in the Brecon Beacons National park, it lied adjacent and overlooking Talybont reservoir. The parking spot is high enough to be able to take in 360 panoramic views with very minimum effort, with a little effort thrown in & a 15 walk you will be treated to a sumptuous outlook over Brecon & Abergavenny….
Here’s some of the beautiful sunrises we’ve captured…

LOOK CLOSELY, WHAT’S THAT? IDENTIFICATION FUN

20140310-104618.jpg

For this activity I went around the house taking close up photos of household things, I then showed the photos to the kids & asked them ‘what’s that?’. The one who identified the most items correctly got a prize.
To put a spin on things you could set the kids the task of taking the photos themselves…

Here’s the photos I took, have a go & see how many you can correctly guess, to find out the identity of each object follow the link https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.663418423671008.1073742005.287237957955725&type=3

FINDING QUALITY TIME

20140309-115554.jpg

Finding quality time with six children can be a challenge, but here is how on occasion we find it. We creep out of bed before the sun rises with a flask of tea, our pop up tent and blankies, sometimes it will be in the garden or a few minutes down the road, our favourite spot to do this close to home is at the foot of the Severn bridge. This morning myself & Elis (10) went laden with bed hair, our photo frame insert and hot chocolate. We spent a lovely hour together before creeping home whilst everyone else still slept.

Here’s how our quality time went…
