FESTIVAL BUGGIES…RIDING IN STYLE

With festival season on us it’s time to start thinking of pimping the rides of he smallest members of the family… A good 3 wheeled buggy & a little imagination goes a long way. Here’s some of the rides we’ve had in the last few years & a peek at how we transformed them…

THE DIGGER….TRANFORMED USING AN OLD LITTLE TYKES CAR, A LEGO STORAGE BUCKET & SOME BATTERY OPERATED LIGHTING….

THEN WE HAD A MONSTER BUGGY…

AND WE HAD A FLOWER BUGGY …TWICE🌸🌺🌼

We used cotton and thread to sow fake flowers to the hood and pull ties to attach them to the pushchair frame and wheels.  We intertwined strings of battery operated fairy lights all over the frame and amongst the flowers…

It’s all a bit of fun and involvement for the smallest members of the family…we certainly stand out on the school run in the summer!
But what will we do this year…….

BLOSSOM FASHION ART

 Isn’t blossom beautiful?!

We picked up some blossom on the way home from school to play with and decided it would be gorgeous if we had a dress made from it….so that’s exactly what we did!

We printed off some photos and became our our blossom fashion designers..

 How stunning did they look?

Our blossom dresses were really effective and beautifully smelling 😊🌺

RAINBOW MINI TODDLER ADVENTURE AT LYDNEY PARK

As part of our ongoing toddler mini adventure series aimed at making the most of the pre nursery time remaining with Noah before he heads off to school in September, endeavouring to slow down & embracing our time together, today we went on a colours of the rainbow hunt with Noah…

This also formed part of our local places exploration..

We went to Lydney Park spring gardens, nr Chepstow…..it was an absolutely beautifully stunning place & the perfect place for a colourful adventure with or without the kids… There was so much more to see there but our objective was to find colours…
You can find more details of admissions & opening times at http://www.lydneyparkestate.co.uk/gardens.html
Here’s how our day looked 😊

We found blue..

and green..

  purple..
  White..

yellow (on the way there!)

 Lots of pink…

we even stopped for an orange 🙂

There was plenty to explore…

The gardens were stunning…& the colours kept coming…

There  was lots of beauty to see, together with a tea room, a museum & a deer park where you could picnic!

We finished our rainbow hunt with a colourful picnic…..

The Blossom Tree

Today we walked to the blossom tree.

We’ve seen this blossom tree bloom, shed & weather a lot.

It’s outside our hospital in a beautiful park laden with squirrels adjoining.

Some of you may remember the blossom tree from a recent post.

We birthed our babies in the hospital, said goodbye to a child there, been cared for during miscarriages there & it’s became our second home with a dodgy heart in tow…

We walk through the park a lot.

Today we walked through the park to  look at the blossom and pick up its fresh fall.

It was beautiful.

We played in the park and made a blossom bunny and a blossom flower with a chocolate treat.

We left as a hailstone shower emptied from the blue skies. (Of which a hailstone directly fell to land bouncing off my eardrum, I swear!)

It was a lovely day which was made mostly by the hour in which we visited the blossom tree.

& a day to reflect, love and return home from.

BLUEBELLS & BOARS IN THE FOREST OF DEAN

20140506-194622.jpg

Today we headed to the Forest of Dean with the intention of riding our bikes, we loaded up the car and picked up a picnic on the way, on the outskirts of Whitecroft just outside Lydney, heading towards The Forest of Dean on the road from Tescos to Clearwell we were greeted by carpets of blue blazing out from the trees, the bluebells were highly evident from the road, we stopped in a layby and entered the woods, it was beautiful… As we walked through a family of wild boar (7babies) ambled past us, it was a fantastic and unexpected treat….

I don’t think the photos need words, the beauty explains itself…
I probably took way too many photos…

Here’s how our walk in the woods looked….

GLORIOUS FLOWERS

I love flowers, the colour, intricacy, aroma & pure beauty… I set out to take some pictures of flowers to show them in contrast alongside each other with colour & without. I took the photos & simply switched each photo to black & white.

Here’s the results…

We drew the conclusion that regardless flowers are truly beautiful in any shade…

FAIRY FUN IN A BLUEBELL WOOD

20140418-003251.jpgWe decided we were going to have a fairy day and head out to find some bluebell carpeted woods, before we went we made some picnic stick bundles, rustic
fairy wands and beautiful fabric fairy wings. Once there we carved toadstools and made fairy doors, danced in the bluebells to entice out the woodland fairies and made a bluebell perfume potion which we sprinkled on the woodland floor, we cast our spells with our fairy wands and were lucky enough to find some real evidence of fairies just as we were leaving…. ✨
Our afternoon was spent in Cockshoot wood, Itton Road. Chepstow.

**please note the only bluebells we used were broken ones we found & as tempting as it was to scoop a thousand up we did not pick any still growing.

 Here’s how we got on..

Our prep….
We started making our fabric fairy wings by cutting out a wing shape from an old sheet making sure to leave lengths to attach to the wrists and neck..

20140418-003435.jpg

We decorated our wings with a selection of paint that we had in the art box, you could use fabric paint to ensure they last.

20140418-003511.jpg

Trying on our dried wings..

20140418-003547.jpg

We made a rustic fairy wand by attaching ribbons to a stick with a hair bobble.

20140418-003625.jpg

Testing our rustic fairy wand.

20140418-003705.jpg

Our picnic bundle sticks, individual picnic spots..

20140418-003829.jpg

Bundled up and tied to the stick..

20140418-003918.jpg

We headed out to search for a bluebell wood..

20140418-004000.jpg

We found flowers but they weren’t quite blue…

20140418-004047.jpg

20140418-004055.jpg

Noah found sticks..

20140418-004129.jpg

And then we found bluebells!!

20140418-004217.jpg

Mila was happy

20140418-004258.jpg

The girls set about collecting bluebells to make some bluebell perfume to entice the flower fairies out onto the woodland floor..

20140418-004338.jpg

20140418-004359.jpg

They mixed their bluebell potion..

20140418-004443.jpg
I discretely put in a sprinkling of fairy dust and hid it by laying a few bluebells on top, the girls then added their flowers to the jar along with water and mixed… They thought it was fairy magic when they mixed it and the potion turned sparkly..

20140418-004527.jpg

We found some cool trees..

20140418-004626.jpg

20140418-004616.jpg

Elis carved a mushroom whilst the girls put together a fairy door.

20140418-004707.jpg

20140418-004739.jpg

I secretly sprinkled some fairy dust onto a flower for the girls to stumble upon…real evidence of fairies!!

20140418-004821.jpg

Mila ran around casting woodland spells to entice the fairies out..

20140418-004902.jpg

With our spells cast, bluebells found, fairy doors built & evidence of fairies stumbled upon we headed home..
